On June 24 2026, Guillaume “Gee” Pierrel was caught in an avalanche while climbing Mount Kapura in pursuit of a first ski descent, a testament to the spirit that defined him. Raised in the Vosges, his passion for the high alpine was part of who he was from the very beginning — passed down through his family and carried with him to Haute-Savoie, where his love for alpinism truly took hold and where he later continued to live for 20 years. It was the moment Mont Blanc called to him from his office window in Geneva that he realised he just had to be up there... Whether it was his Vosges accent, the sound of his harmonica on the road, the tandem bike he’d venture off on with his climbing partner, or his ever-present smile, Gee brought warmth and authenticity to every summit and every encounter. Since 2017, Gee had been part of The North Face family. Our hearts are with Gee’s family, his loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
